In a former life Richard was Ranger Rick, a Park Ranger and Park Superintendent in America's National Parks. In a former world Shirley was an Accountant and Computer Systems Specialist in the commodities and construction sectors. But an early retirement on April Fools Day in 2000 redirected our lives.
Now we are retired from our careers but certainly not retired from life or retired from working. We just don't get paid anymore...at least not in money. Throughout our married life we've set out to see the world and enjoy its many wonders, its many peoples, and its diverse cultures. Our hiking boots have gone from mountains in Borneo to ice fields in Antarctica to jungle trails in Ecuador and ancient stone roads in Europe. Although the Park Ranger/Naturalist is always looking for new birds to add to his list, it is the people and adventures along the way that make the most indelible memories.
We invite you to join us vicariously through the pages of this journal.

Rila Monastery Part IV
Endulge me one more time while I share my love of art. Remember that the pictures shown in these blogs are only a small fraction of the religious art at this one monastery.
